Basic WILD and Aquatic WILD Workshops offer professional development for educators statewide.

Advanced Project WILD Natural History Workshops
Fishing The Rio Grande
What: Education Professional Development. Renew your energy and get new ideas to meet your curricula requirements and New Mexico Academic Standards. Learn how to fly fish and tie flies!
Highlights:
- River rafting (rated easy) with Far Flung Adventures,
- Learn flyfishing along the Rio Grande on Saturday; lunch is included,
- Instruction in flytying and flyfishing from our Aquatic Resources Education volunteers,
- Learn watershed and river health, conservation and relevance to wildlife and people,
- Get latest updates on reintroduced river otters with good chance of seeing otters or their sign,
- Learn about the geographic and cultural history of the area from BLM specialists,
- Learn Project WILD Aquatic activities and classroom applications on Sunday morning
Where: camping at Rio Bravo Campground group shelter, BLM Orilla Verde Recreation area located off NM 570 near the Rio Grande Gorge Visitor Center and Pilar, NM.
When: June 8-10, 2012
Friday, June 8, Start time 6:00pm
Saturday, June 9, morning launch from the Taos Junction Bridge
Sunday, June 10, classroom activities using Project WILD Aquatic 8:00am - 12:00 noon
Cost: The cost for the weekend is $90 per person, payable by check only. Payments must be received within a week of registering.

Wild Turkeys and Forest Ecosystems: Combining Field Research, Your Students and Citizen Science
What: Professional development for teachers in the beautiful, diverse White Mountains at 9,000 feet. Learn about wild turkeys and citizen science field techniques to meet NM Academic Content Standards.
Highlights:
- Learn about and search for spotted owls,
- Herp search with special focus on the Sacramento Mtn. salamanders,
- Small mammal live trapping
- Bird mist-netting and bird banding
- Bug lighting for insects at night
- Classroom activities using Project WILD and science notebooks
Cost: Free, no food provided.
When: July 20-22, 2012--Friday evening 6:00pm to Sunday 12:00 noon.
Where: Oak Grove Campground, White Mountains, Lincoln National Forest. Car camping; tent camping. No RV's over 18 feet.
